Christmas Freakouts

Now, this Christmas I did get I asked for, a new TV (didn’t have to be new, but one the weighed less than 20 pounds, unlike the 60+ pound CRT TV I’ve had for 12 years now.)

Most of you have probably seen this video before, but let’s embed it anyway…

Now, I do remember when I got my Nintendo 64 when I was 7 or 8, but I wasn’t entirely sure what it was at the time, but I caught on and my dad paid enough attention to the ads to know what games would be fun. [This is bringing back a lot of nostalgia] (I even remember when my family would play 4-player split screen on Mario Kart 64 all the time {Me, sister, mom & dad})  Anyway, I didn’t get as worked up as that kid did.

Jump head a few year later (Christmas 2005), I got a white (sorry for the racism) 2GB iPod nano(1st generation).  I loved the thing, so I could change between different albums without swapping out CDs in and out of my Walkman.

Fast forward to Christmas 2007, the iPhone came out that year and they were all the rage. But, I had a phone I was happy with and barely even used it, so I didn’t have a need or a want for a phone (at the time), such as the iPhone1 (remember this was the one where you couldn’t download apps).  At this time the little battery in my nano wouldn’t last for more than about 45 minutes max (and I had like 150MB left on it), so around Christmas time, I was looking at the current iPod models, so I could ask for a new one.  Then, I noticed, they made an iPod that was just like the iPhone, without the phone part in it.  To keep things short, I got the 8GB.  Loved the thing… didn’t need to be in front of my computer to be on the internet now, I could be in the den with the internet (via WiFi) in my hand and listen to music at the same time.  This was also when Internet, YouTube and music was basically all you could do with the thing, until a $25 service pack update came out… -_-

Over a year ago, the 3.5mm jack screwed up and I couldn’t listen to music with it anymore, just internet, and downloaded apps (at the time).  Since I just got out a rough point in my life, my parents bought me a new one (3rd generation 32GB).  This one was fast and I felt like I could do anything with it since I could talk with Skype through the microphone in the earphones.  And on this one I could change the background of the home screen and not just the lock screen.

I got waaaaaaaay…. off track there this was supposed to be a segway to this video here…

I cannot think of a conclusion….

This Girl is Going Places

I saw this ABC World News earlier in the week and I was going to blog about it, but I forgot to. I noticed this was on Kotaku* while catching up on some blog an since they had an easy link to the video, I just now got around to posting it.

Might have a follow up later. nah…

*iOS suggested this world is probably ‘otaku’. This pleases me that Apple recognizes it as a word without me ever adding it to my device’s internal dictionary, let alone ever typing it into an iOS device until now.

**Yes, I do occasionally blog from my phone.

Headlight Fluid

As for Yesterday’s post, on October 8th, (this was written on the 11th) I had a friend who asked me something about car stereos or something (because I am somewhat reputable in this area somehow).  So, I recommended the he get a new receiver before upgrading to anything else to see if he likes the results.  (This is not you, LS)

As we were conversing, I asked if I could see his car, just to give him an idea on what to look for.  He has a 2002 Ford Mustang and as soon as we were finished with the car audio system crap, he asked me what I thought of the engine.  Now for the engine, I do not remember anything about it because of the conversation that followed.

He started saying that he hated driving at night because when he would turn his headlights on, they weren’t all that bright and can’t see anything without having the high-beams on and having to turn them off as oncoming traffic comes past.  I checked to make sure he wasn’t just turning the parking lights on, which he wasn’t and I agreed they weren’t all that bright either.

Before I said anything about cleaning the lenses for the headlight lamps or getting new bulbs, I decided to make a joke and say “Maybe you just need more headlight fluid.”  Once I said that he said “Well, I do pass by Auto Zone on the way home. I guess I’ll pick some up.”  When he said that, I was confused on whether he was completely serious about getting ‘headlight fluid’ or if he got the joke and meant he was going to get new bulbs, so I went along with it…

Got a call on October 9th, picked my phone up… “Hel-…” “You @$$h013″

He was serious…
